Safe to Enjoy Raw
Farmed Norwegian trout are raised on heat-treated feed, which means there’s no risk of parasites like Anisakis that are sometimes found in wild fish. This is why Norwegian authorities allow farmed trout and salmon to be eaten raw without freezing first — unlike wild-caught fish.
No Artificial Dye
Norwegian farmed trout get their beautiful colour from astaxanthin — a natural antioxidant also found in shrimp and krill that wild trout eat. In Norway, only approved sources of astaxanthin may be used in fish feed, such as microalgae, yeast, or crustacean shells. This is strictly regulated by the Norwegian Food Safety Authority
